Hokies Set for Friday Night Playoff Showdown vs. Clemson
Blacksburg, VA – Virginia Tech Men’s Lacrosse Division I is set for a primetime rematch as they take on Clemson in a high-stakes ALC Quarterfinal matchup this Friday night at 7:30 PM. Just two weeks removed from a gritty 15-11 win over the Tigers, the Hokies are gearing up for another battle under the lights with a spot in the conference semifinals on the line.
The previous meeting was a slugfest, showcasing two physical and disciplined squads. Virginia Tech pulled away late behind standout performances from Kyle Dickson, Tanner Snow, and Trevor Stocks—who will again be called upon to lead the charge offensively. Between the pipes, the Hokies will rely on the steady hands of Gavin Larsen, whose leadership and shot-stopping ability have anchored the defense all season.
Clemson, meanwhile, returns with vengeance on their mind. The Tigers are led by Jon Hennessey in goal and a dynamic offensive trio of Holden Morrison, Ian Jackson, and Jack Wunder. Each brings a unique threat, making them a dangerous opponent in playoff lacrosse.
“This is what it’s all about—playoff lacrosse under the lights,” said Head Coach Panchito Ojeda. “Two tough, talented teams with everything on the line. We’re excited for the challenge and to play in front of our home crowd one more time.”
The winner of Friday night’s clash will advance to face Liberty University in the ALC Semifinals on Saturday, April 26 in Lynchburg, VA.
Fans are encouraged to pack the stands and bring the energy as the Hokies look to punch their ticket to the next round of the postseason.
