Hokies Drop Both Games in Florida

by Panchito Ojeda

The Virginia Tech Hokies endured a tough weekend on the Florida road as they fell short in back-to-back contests against two of the state’s top programs.

At Tallahassee:
Facing off against the Florida State Seminoles, the Hokies found themselves overmatched early. The Seminoles’ dynamic offense and suffocating defense set the tone from the opening whistle. Despite several spirited rallies by Virginia Tech, FSU's precision passing and aggressive plays kept the Hokies on the back foot, and the Seminoles steadily built a lead that proved insurmountable.

In Gainesville:
The challenge continued against the Florida Gators, where every possession seemed to be met with an equally fierce response. The Gators exploited every opening, and their well-coordinated attacks eventually wore down the Hokies’ efforts to contain them. While Virginia Tech showcased flashes of resilience, they couldn’t overcome the disciplined execution and momentum of Florida’s squad.

After the two hard-fought games, head coach Panchito Ojeda addressed the team’s performance:

“We have to give all the credit to Florida State and Florida. They executed their game plans perfectly and deserved every bit of their wins. Now it’s back to work for us—we need to regroup, analyze what went wrong, and come back stronger.”

The Hokies will face off against Auburn on Friday February 21.
